Not only is it Friday, but it just so happens to be the birthday of these fine ladies…
That’s my mom and her twin just a few short years ago!
HAPPIEST OF HAPPY BIRTHDAYS, MOM and KATHIE!!!
My mom (left) looks so much like my cousin’s little girl and my aunt (right) looks so much like Evie. Oh, the ways of families!
I apologize for being pretty quiet this week. Life has been a little chaotic. (I have really loved connecting with you on facebook, though!) I’ve been reading up on the follow-up from the Mini GMO Summit I shared with you all a few weeks back. I will have summary posts coming soon, but quite honestly, I’m trying to wrap my mind around it all, how to share the depth and magnitude of what is happening.
The more I read and understand, the more angry I become at the way companies have been given a free pass to do what they want to our food supply. It has impacted our health, our air, our water, plants, animals and on and on. How much more damage will be done before changes are made? I want to leave this world better for our kids, and I’m not convinced that will happen.
My brother gets married next weekend so my weekend agenda includes a lot of prep for the big day. Traveling with children period is work, but add to it a plane ride, hotel sleeping and food allergies, and my head might just explode!!!! If you have any great travel tips with kids, share away!
Join me in taking a few deep breaths and enjoy my most fantastic online finds. Be sure to click the blue “Fantastic” link to go directly to the source page.
Fantastic DIY Flour: Need to be gluten-free or trying to minimize your wheat/grain/gluten intake? This is a great, easy replacement.
Fantastic Homemade Gift Ideas: I love the idea of giving homemade gifts to all the people in your life you think, “hmmmm… what do I get?” Teachers, babysitters, service workers, etc. There are a ton of great options here!
Fantastic Pony: My hair might be long, but the “look” of a basic pony always drives me nuts. The ends just don’t work right. Enter the easiest solution. I’ve tried this… it works!
Fantastic Salad: Ever since we returned from Root Down in Denver, I’ve been obsessed with brussels sprouts salad. Obsessed. This will be made, minus the parm. I’ll sub grated macadamia nuts or sliced almonds. Yum!
Fantastic Printable: Finn is off the charts for Santa’s beard and has had so much fun gluing a cotton ball on each morning. It gives a great visual as to how long we must be patient before Mr. Claus arrives! Do yourself a favor and print 5 or 6 so you have them for the years ahead.
Fantastic Funny: These doggy signs are freaking hilarious!! If you need a good laugh, this will do it!
Fantastic Cowl: Do you think it would be weird if I wore this? Because I want to. It’s just so darn cute! I must learn to knit or crochet. Officially added to the bucket list!
Fantastic Read for all Moms: Since having children, I focus far less on what I look like and tons more on how I feel in my own skin. As moms, we have a responsibility to change the body-focused world we live in for our daughters and our sons. I want to raise Evie knowing exercise isn’t about fitting into trendy clothes, but for your health, mind and heart.
Fantastic Quote: Oh, Glinda. You’re so wise!
Fantastic Two-Minutes: Need some fresh workout options? Check out the comments from Monday. Thanks for reminding me that Jillian kicks ass. Take a few minutes to work though this ab routine. It doesn’t take hours to make changes… just a little here and there. It all counts!
Have a fantastic weekend! What are you doing this weekend to be active and healthy?
