Fantastic Fridays

This week has been something weird!  Evie ate 2 crayons. Finn came down with a strange cough. I developed a ridiculous rash between my eyes. Justin plugged away until long after midnight in anticipation for his book release MONDAY! Needless to say we are looking forward to a mellow weekend! Here was the opening of the first print….

So proud!

Enjoy your Friday with my most fantastic online finds. Click the blue “Fantastic” link to go directly to the source page.

Fantastic Bling:  My mother-in-law bought this necklace for my sister-in-law, Kristin, and I for Christmas. Isn’t it fun? I’m already dreaming and scheming about what I’ll pair it with this spring and summer.  What would you do?

Fantastic Survival:  I used to use the microwave to “nuke” everything. Now, we rarely use it. In fact, I tell Justin all the time that if we were to build our own house, I wouldn’t add a microwave to the kitchen. We re-heat things mostly in a pot on the stove (with some added liquid) or in the oven or on the Pizza Pizzaz (not just for pizza). It really isn’t a hard transition either. Go a week and see how creative you can be!

No microwave

Fantastic Breakfast: Check out these amazing recipes for Paleo or gluten-free/vegan waffles. Finn is obsessed with pancakes and waffles. (Maybe it’s just the syrup….) At any rate, I can get on board with this version for sure. Mouth-watering!

Fantastic Boy: Boys are amazing, aren’t they? Girls are great – love mine to pieces – but there’s something so magically special about little boys. They are the best kept secret! Husband, you’re making these for Finn. While you’re at it, make one for you, too, ’cause I know you’ll want one. Finn would freak the heck out!

Fantastic Doodle: Every little girl needs a pair of Doodle Pants! These are some of the funkiest, cutest leggings around. I opened the envelope these were sent in and Evie literally started jumping up and down. Something about bring pink makes her very  happy! :) I put them on her and she kept dancing around and trying to check out her rump in the mirror. Even Jessica Simpson’s little girl rocks the Doodle Pants! (Evie is wearing the Large/18-24 months, for reference.)

Fantastic Bright:  This color! Neon is still in, right? I need some spring wardrobe brightness stat!

Fantastic Truth: Could it be any simpler?

Fantastic Treat: Three simple ingredients for the coconut-based, dairy-free treat!

Fantastic Clean: Genius. Freaking genius. Every so often I see homemade recipes with enough coconut oil to cover a beach. Although I love coconut oil, most sinks do not. Coconut oil is solid at room temperature which means it’s not great for shaving cream or soap or lots of other products headed straight for the drain. Over time, you’re just going to have a clogged drain!!! This coconut oil-free recipe is so simple for the kitchen. Even your sink needs a breath mint every so often, right?

Fantastic Martina: I love everything about Evie. She’s fun. She’s sharp. She’s sassy. Sometimes I want to pull every last hair out of my head with tweezers, but I know her personality will serve her well in life. No one will be walking over that girl! That brings me joy! Last week at the grocery store she discovered the “mini” cart. My first thought: this trip will take six hours. She rammed into every aisle, every display, nearly every person. She was adamant she push this thing (even though she fell over four times in 2 minutes trying to move it) and she was adamant I not touch the cart to guide it. She also was adamant she take her coat and boots off and walk around in her socks. Adamant. Needless to say, the trip didn’t go so well. This girl will challenge me more than anyone and will also force me to invest in booze by the case…

Have a fantastic weekend!

Hilarious about Evie and the shopping cart! My three year old little girlie likes to do the same thing at the grocery store (although she does keep her shoes on – for now!)\
Congratulations to Justin! Enjoy celebrating this weekend!

    Great Fantastic Finds!

Have you seen the “Fake Snow” videos on You Tube? I didn’t try it but now I will be worried about planting a garden this yr. They say that this snow doesn’t melt even holding it under a lighter! They are saying that it’s somehow connected to the contrails.

Do you guys still have snow on the ground? I am now curious!

We moved our microwave to the garage about a year ago. It’s used maybe once a month for one recipe that it’s just easiest to do there. Haven’t missed it and we heat everything in a small toaster oven on our counter or the stove. Feels good to not have it nearby!
