It was a quiet morning. Evie was napping. Finn was having a snack, listening to his Great Grandma read “The Night Before Christmas.” (Thank you, Hallmark, for these ingenious recordable books!)
I was zoned out on my iPad, consumed in all the emotion of what life must be like for the moms and dads of the 20 children who died one week ago. I looked up to see Finn’s face, thankful for all that he is and wondering how I can ever protect him from the reality of this world.
At that moment the sun beamed in and enveloped his sweet face.
Rest assured, there is peace in the sadness.
